The City of Horse Cave has a zoning ordinance in effect since 1989. It effectively limits what type of businesses can be maintained in areas of the city and controls housing additions and use of space on residential lots. 

Residents of the city should contact City Hall (270-786-2680) before building, adding to a building, starting a business or changing use of an existing building. The City employs a zoning administrator who is happy to work with any potential builder or business to assure that the zoning regulations are met and that growth in the city continues in an orderly fashion. A complete copy of the zoning regulations and a zoning map are available for viewing or copying in the office of the city clerk during regular business hours.
